The 83rd Formation Commanders Conference, chaired by Army Chief General Asim Munir, reaffirmed the commitment to immediate and transparent judicial and legal action against the criminals of May 9th. The conference participants emphasized that without such action, the country would remain hostage to these conspiratorial elements.
Key Points from the Conference
The conference, held on Thursday under the leadership of Army Chief General Asim Munir, included the participation of core commanders, principal staff officers, and all formation commanders of the Pakistan Army.
According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the conference highlighted that “the ongoing digital terrorism against state institutions, particularly the Pakistan Armed Forces, is being carried out for malicious political purposes with the support of external facilitators.”
The statement further mentioned that the aim of this campaign is to create despair among the Pakistani nation through lies and propaganda, and to drive a wedge between the national institutions, especially the armed forces, and the public.
Call for Legal Action
The forum reiterated that “in the larger interest of the country, it is essential to bring the planners, criminals, encouragers, and facilitators of the May 9th events to justice.” The participants stressed that “without establishing the rule of law and taking immediate and transparent judicial and legal action against the criminals of May 9th, the country will always remain at the mercy of such conspiratorial elements.”
Previous Statements
Earlier, on May 7th, the military spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, addressed the events of May 9th last year. He stated that the “anarchic group” has only one path: to apologize to the nation and participate in constructive politics.
He further added that “if any political group or faction attacks its own army, no dialogue will take place with them. Such anarchic groups have only one option: to apologize to the nation and promise to leave behind the politics of hatred and engage in constructive politics.”
Conclusion
The conference underscores the importance of taking firm legal action against those involved in the events of May 9th to safeguard the integrity of state institutions and maintain national unity. The emphasis on accountability and the rejection of digital terrorism reflect the Pakistan Army’s stance on maintaining law and order and addressing malicious political agendas that threaten the country’s stability.
